When types work against you
Dec 1, 2003
I managed to change my dates away from mySQL’s evil `TIMESTAMP’ data type. At the time I created the database, I thought it would be great to have the `date’ field for each journal entry updated when it was inserted or modified. However, when I periodically go through my entries and make them XHTML1.1 compliant, I erase the oh-so-important date. I’m starting to think that I only care about the initial post date, and it was really annoying to manually change the date field back to its correct time.
What’s more, this poor choice on my part caused the loss of date information for many of my earliest entries. Never again!
