I finished Doctorow’s novel. Overall, it was an excellent story set in a strange world of techno-mythology that combined golems and wi-fi. An entertaining read. The book would have been finished yesterday, but I joined my good friend Kian at Barfly for a late night drink.
Barfly is not what I expected: it really is swankier than a bar, and less exclusive than a lounge. Drinks were reasonably priced, the music wasn’t abhorrent, and I managed to have an ineteresting conversation, while sitting down—well-nigh impossible on a Saturday night in the ultralounges of Minneapolis. I think I’ll go back and see if the experience repeats.
Now it is off to bed. I need to buy another novel and keep my reading cycle going. When I read a good book, I can power through it in hours, ignoring all else. It’s a very relaxing feeling; the world drops away (save for the occasional water break) and the novel’s world comes into sharp focus. I’m excited to get back to work tomorrow—a few sub-projects are nearing completion, and we’ll begin rigorously testing the completed work.
