A Relaxing Day.

Jan 23, 2006

If getting out of bed at noon, watching football, and enjoying homemade pizza with the girlfriend isn’t relaxing, I don’t know what is. I managed to avoid thinking about all forms of work today. Fitting, since I spent several hours working in the office yesterday. Eventually, I needed a break so I shot a few pictures.

I’ve joined the Beginner to Intermediate Photography group on Flickr, so many of these shots were “from below”, this week’s assignment.

As you can see, I’m experimenting with black and white and infrared photography in these shots. I have ignored b&w; in certain circumstances, I like the stark contrast over color film. The IR shot (me looking up in the elevator) was a mistake—I quickly flipped the camera over to Program Auto (something I haven’t done in a while). When I did this, I somehow hit the “Night Shot” mode, so you can see the camera’s little IR “flashlight” shining, attempting to light a very dark scene. My coat is actually black.
