Punch Pizza—10 Years

Feb 7, 2006

Tonight I was fortunate enough to go to Punch Pizza’s 10 year anniversary party. My family has been going to Punch since I discovered it nearly six years ago. Punch is a little neapolitan pizza shop in St. Paul, MN, one of only eleven vera pizza napoletana restaurants in the United States. To attain VPN status, a pizzeria must be certified. The ingredients must match the VPN specification, a wood-fired oven must be used, the dough may only be mixed by hand or by low-speed mixer, etc. There are a lot of qualifications.

The party was very nice—we were seated like any normal night, offered a virtually complete menu of pizzas, wine, and beer. I had the Pizza Toto (Arugula, Prosciutto, Cracked Red Pepper, Garlic, and Goat Cheese), Champagne, and a Summit. That pizza was fantastic, and represented everything Punch stands for.

Punch pulls it off. Night after night, I’ve received the highest-quality of pizza—indeed, the best pizza I have ever had. Thank you for bringing quality neapolitan pizza to the Twin Cities.
